Introduction to the external characteristics of the black soldier fly:
Adult black soldier fly:
gray black wings, degenerated mouthparts, body length 15-20mm, mainly black in color, female black soldier fly's eggs. The abdomen of the black soldier fly's eggs is slightly red, and there are white translucent spots at both ends of the second abdominal segment. The abdomen of the male insect is slightly bronze colored. The black soldier fly is relatively large in size. The weight of mature larvae of black fly flies is about ten times that of domestic fly larvae.
Black water fly eggs:
about 1 millimeter in diameter, elliptical in length, initially pale yellow to milky in color, gradually deepening in later stages. Each egg mass contains approximately 500 eggs
Black soldier fly larvae:
Black soldier fly larvae have a plump body shape, a small head, appearing yellow black, and a sturdy and resilient epidermis. The initial hatching is milky white, approximately 1.8mm long. The larvae go through six instars, and the last instar larvae (pre pupae) have a brownish black body. On average, it is about 18mm long and 6mm wide, with some individuals reaching up to 27mm.
Black water fly pupa: The pupa shell is dark brown and is formed by the molting of the last instar larvae. The pupa body can be seen when opened.
