BSF (black soldier fly):
a.Antibiotic residues in livestock and poultry manure have always been an important problem in the process of harmless treatment of manure, and among the many treatment technologies currently available, the transformation technology of the black soldier fly larvae has demonstrated highly efficient degradation of antibiotic residues in manure.
b.studies have shown that BSF larvae is high in protein, fat content and rich mineral elements; it has similar amino acid composition to fish meal and high animal digestion and absorption rate, making it very suitable as a feed raw material, therefore, black soldier fly larvae can be used as high-quality protein and fat raw materials for livestock, poultry, and aquatic feed.
c.BSFL fertilizer is beneficial for the plant and can improve the soil nutrient content. Compared with natural fermented fertilizer, BSFL fertilizer can reduce the risk of ARGs import and horizontal transfer in soil. Besides that, BSFL fertilizer can effectively reduce the potential ARB abundance in the soil, resulting in the low abundance of ARGs.
d.BSF larvae naturally produce a diversity of antimicrobial peptides to protect themselves from the environment full of microorganisms in which they live. These peptides exert a positive impact on animal health and can be used as potential antibiotic replacements. Black soldier fly fats can be used as biodiesel or fuel, in cosmetics (skincare products), and as surfactants.
